UTC Full Form Is Universal Time Coordinated. It is also known as Coordinated Universal Time. It is a primary standard time based on International Atomic Time (TAI) in which leap seconds are added at irregular intervals to compensate for changes in Earth’s rotation. The current version of UTC is defined by the International Telecommunication Union Recommendation (ITU-R TF.460-6), Time Signal Emission, and is based on International Atomic Time. Time zones of different countries of the world are expressed using positive and negative offsets from UTC. Coordination of time and frequency transmission around the world began on 1 January 1960. Universal Time Coordinated is used in many Internet and WWW (World Wide Web) standards.

About
Coordinated Universal Time is the common standard time everywhere in the world. Formerly and still widely called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and World Time, UTC nominally refers to the mean solar time along Earth’s prime meridian. (The 360 lines of longitude on Earth are the prime meridian at 0° longitude. There are 179 in the east and 179 in the west. The 180th meridian is also called the International Date Line.) The prime meridian is based on an arbitrary meridian that is in London It passes through Greenwich Observatory outside, where the current system originated. UTC is based on an atomic clock with occasional adjustments of one second (called a leap second) to allow for changes in the solar cycle.
Before 1972, this time was called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) but is now called Coordinated Universal Time or Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). It is a coordinated time scale, maintained by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM). It is also known as “Z Time” or “Zulu Time”.

Features of UTC
- Universal Time or UT came into existence in 1884.
- The International Meridian Convention has chosen a universal time for all countries and time zones in the world.
- Greenwich, London has located in the Prime Meridian, which has zero-degree longitude.
- The BIPM or Bureau International des Poids et Majors maintains the Coordinated Universal Time Scale.
- Aviation uses Coordinated Universal Time.
Conversion of UTC to local time zone
The given time can be converted to UTC local time zone by subtracting 6 hours. If the time is given as 17:00 UTC, you need to subtract it from 6 to get the actual, local time. That is, the time is 11 o’clock.

FAQ On UTC Full Form
Why is UTC use ?
UTC serves to accommodate the time difference arising between atomic time (which is derived from atomic clocks) and solar time (which is derived from astronomical measurements of the Earth’s rotation on its axis relative to the Sun).
Are there 2 time zones in India?
The Republic of India uses only one time zone (even though it is spread over two geographic time zones) throughout the country and all its territories, called Indian Standard Time (IST), which is UTC+05:30, i.e. is equal to five plus one. Half an hour before Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Which is the first time zone?
UTC+14:00 is an identifier for the time offset from UTC of +14:00. It is the oldest time zone on Earth, which means that regions in this region are the first to see a new day, and therefore the first to celebrate a new year.
Who Uses UTC Time?
UTC is also the time standard used in aviation, e.g. For flight plans and air traffic control. Weather forecasts and maps all use UTC to avoid confusion about time zones and daylight saving time. The International Space Station also uses UTC as the time standard.
