PIL Full Form Is Public Interest Litigation. It refers to legal action or use of law to promote human rights and equality or to raise an issue of public concern. It is always a lawsuit (legal action) for the public interest or an act for the benefit of the public. In this, legal action is initiated in the court for the implementation of public interest or common interest or when the legal rights or obligations of the people are affected. Any person or group of people can file public interest litigation. However, it should not be for their personal gain or related to their personal agenda.
Public interest litigation has been introduced as an exercise that focuses on the citizens of the country and allows public participation in judicial review of administrative action to make the judicial process more democratic. Its main objective is to protect the people of the nation and to raise the interests of minorities and disadvantaged groups or individuals by taking legal action for their benefit.

- Public interest litigation is implemented as a process that reflects the people of the country and encourages the public to engage in regulatory action judicial review to make the judicial system more democratic.

What is Public Interest Litigation?
There are some issues like this. To whom the government does not give any importance, but for the public; it is in the form of a big problem. When such a problem comes. Then any person or group of persons can file an appeal against the government in the Supreme Court or High Court. Which we call Public Interest Litigation or PIL. It was started in India in 1986 by Chief Justice PN Bhagwati.

Who can file PIL?
